"Docking Stations" are energy producing extensions to the conventional piers in New York City. The Design is a 2009
Next Generation proposal by Richard Garber, Nicole Robertson, and Brian Novello, of
GRO Architects.
"Docking Stations generate" electricity by harnessing tidal energy through three vertical turbines on the underside of the floating dock. The energy is used to power streetlights and alleviate the need for conventional energy to light the city.
"Each module generates up to 24 kilowatts of constant energy created by the bi-directional 4 mph current, supporting 350 LED streetlamps."
